Adobe Acrobat is a program that allows you to view, navigate, and print PDF files.
PDF documents are files that you may come across while exploring the internet and wish to view. The PDF format is used for web publications such as manuals and longer documents. Adobe Acrobat is the only way to view these files.
To start Adobe Acrobat:
- Click the START button in Windows.
- Select PROGRAMS.
- Select the Adobe program group.
- Click on Adobe Reader.
To open an existing PDF document:
- Go to the File menu and select Open.
- Browse to the file you wish to open.
- Select the file.
- Click Open.
To print a PDF document:
- After opening the document, go to the File menu.
- Select Print Setup. Verify that the appropriate print options are selected.
- Go to the File menu and select Print.
To view the contents of the document:
Use the top of the View menu for commands that will change the screen magnification in Acrobat. The Zoom To button allows you to choose the percent magnification, the Actual Size button returns your view to its original magnification, and the Fit buttons 'fit' the page, the width of the page, and the visible elements of the page, respectively, into your Acrobat window.
To navigate the document:
- To go to the next page in a document, click the Next Page button in the toolbar, press the right arrow or down arrow on the keyboard, or go to the "View" window and select "Next Page".
- To return to the previous page in a document, click the Previous Page button in the toolbar, press the left arrow or up arrow on the keyboard, or go to the "View" menu and select "Previous Page".
- To jump to a specific numbered page, click the page number box at the bottom of the main window, type in the page number, and click OK. OR go to the "View" menu, select "Go To Page", type in the page number, and click OK. OR you can drag the scroll box in the vertical scroll bar up and down to get to a specific page.
- To retrace your viewing path, use the double-arrow buttons in the toolbar.
To display information about a PDF document:
- After opening the document, go to the File menu and select Document Info.
- There are three types of information you may choose:
- 'General' displays basic creation information about the document.
- 'Font' displays font usage information.
- 'Security' displays the security settings of the document.
To exit Adobe Acrobat:
- Go to the "File" menu and select "Exit".
