  Accessing Hal through QVT/Term  
Hal is the administrative computer on campus, responsible for everything from grades to payroll. Departmental supervisors determine who would need an account for access. Supervisors can request accounts from the MIS section of the Computing Center.
QVT/Term is the terminal program installed on Wittenberg computers used to access text-only and Unix based computers such as Hal. For information about usernames and passwords, please see the Administrative Computing web pages.
To access Hal through QVT/Term:
- Double click the Term icon on the Windows background.
- After opening QVT/Term, select the File menu, then select Open.
OR
- Click on the OPEN icon on the left-hand side of the toolbar.
- Type the word 'Hal' in white area the "Host Name or IP Address:" and click OK.
OR
- Click on Hal in the column on the right and click OK.
- Type the Hal username assigned by MIS at the "login:" prompt and press ENTER.
- Type the Hal password at the "Password:" prompt and press ENTER.
- Type the Colleague password at the next prompt and press ENTER.
To exit QVT/Term:
- Make sure you have exited Colleague.
- Type the word 'EXIT' and press ENTER to log off Hal.
- To close QVT/Term, click on the Close button in the upper right-hand corner of the window.
OR
- Click on the "File" menu and select 'Exit'.
