Welcome to Wittenberg University’s Greek Life website. For over 130 years, fraternities and sororities on our campus have forged a strong tradition of leadership, success and pride. This heritage benefits both our fraternity and sorority members and the broader university community.
In 1866, the first fraternity, Phi Kappa Psi, was installed at Wittenberg. It was followed the next year by Beta Theta Pi. These two fraternities set the standard by demonstrating the values of high scholarship, service to the community and lifelong friendships. Since then, 21 other social Greek-letter organizations have been installed here at Wittenberg. As times have changed some chapters have closed and today 15 groups currently have chapters here. Phi Kappa Psi (1866), Beta Theta Pi (1867), Phi Gamma Delta (1884), Alpha Delta Pi (1913), Chi Omega ( 1924), Kappa Delta ( 1927), Gamma Phi Beta ( 1929), Delta Sigma Phi (1932), Lambda Chi Alpha (1932), Delta Gamma (1955), Sigma Kappa (1961), Kappa Alpha Psi (1983), Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.(1981), Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.(1997) and Delta Tau Delta (1998).
Each chapter is committed to the academic mission of the university, the value of service to the campus and community, and the development of character within its members.
Fraternity/Sorority membership is open to all students regardless of age, race, religion, color, national origin, sexual orientation or disability. The single sex status of each organization is protected under law.
More than one third of our undergraduate students are members of the Fraternity/Sorority community. Members are involved in most of the University's events, programs, and student organizations. In any academic year nearly 50% of the campus leaders are fraternity/sorority members.
We invite you to explore our website. We have designed our site to provide an introduction to the many different aspects of our fraternity and sorority community. This site will provide you with access to information about the services, programs, and events sponsored by our office and our fraternal organizations.
