What's Up On Campus
THE WUCHTER MEMORIAL GARDEN was dedicated on Thursday during weekday chapel services. The ceremony began in Weaver Chapel with music by the Wittenberg Choir. An arrangement of Micah 6:8 was composed by Don Busarow, professor of music, for the dedication. Michael D. Wuchter '68 served as pastor at Weaver Chapel from 1979 to 1997. Shirley Wuchter and Pastor Larry and Gwendolyn Houff were in attendance.

SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAMS on campus have been scheduled by Barb Mackey, director of community programs.

CROPWALK, organized by the Church World Service, will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 13. The four-mile walk will start at the Stoughton Lawn entrance to the Benham-Pence Student Center. Students, faculty, staff and members of the Springfield community will walk together to remember those who must walk to feed themselves.
CONGRATULATIONS to the Cycling Club as the members enjoy the fruits of their labors at noon on Saturday, April 13. That's the time a commemorative ceremony will celebrate the opening of an off-road bicycle trail at John Bryan State Park. Wittenberg's Cycling Club has been given most of the credit for the trail's existence.

THE IMANI GOSPEL CHOIR will hold the annual Gospel Fest on Saturday, April 13 at the Field House adjacent to the HPER Center. Gospel choirs from Cedarville, Cincinnati and Columbus will also perform. See

ON SUNDAY, APRIL 14, the Office of Admission will welcome 30 prospective students to an overnight program. On Monday, the students will attend classes, meet with professors and coaches, and attend various information sessions about campus activities. Enjoy the guests on this final overnight visit of the academic year.

"AN OFFERING FOR COMBAT VETERANS," which features a photographic exhibit by Vietnam veterans
(Poster featured at left), will be on display in Chakeres Theatre between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. from April 23 to May 20. An opening reception with refreshments will be held on Tuesday, April 23. The exhibition is the first-ever "Vietnam Veterans Healing Arts Exhibit."

CONCERNED BLACK STUDENTS (CBS) will hold its annual Walkout on Friday, April 19. On Jan. 19, 1969, CBS led the first black student protest.
THE GABRIELI BRASS FESTIVAL XXI will be held on Sunday, April 21. The Wright Brass from The Airforce Band of Flight, the Miami University Brass Choir, the Miami University Trumpet Ensemble and the Wittenberg University Brass Choir will perform. See

A GLOBAL TOWN-GOWN ALLIANCE, which aims to benefit education and urban development, has been organized. Read about how Wittenberg and the City of Springfield have joined forces to help two Central European cities revitalize their urban areas. Representatives of both cities and universities will meet in Springfield April 24-29.

Spotlight On
Rebecca Roush '03, an American Studies major, spent fall semester on the Standing Rock Reservation in South Dakota through the International Partnership of Service-Learning. "I learned what it was like to be hated for the color of my skin," Roush said as she began to share her initial experience as a "white outsider."

THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD has reported that the North Fountain Avenue bridge project is on schedule. The work is scheduled for completion by the end of April.

Club/Organization of the Week

THE LUTHERAN STUDENT MOVEMENT (LSM)
(some members pictured at left) recently organized a campus-wide fast titled "Fill Their Cup: A 24-Hour Fast for World Hunger." LSM-Witt raised $1,100 by the end of the 24 hours for the ELCA World Hunger Appeal. Aaron Copley '04, president, said that LSM-Witt has 20 active members and is affiliated with the Lutheran Student Movement USA. Five members of the Wittenberg organization attended a regional retreat this year. In the fall, the organization hosts Lutheran Student Days on campus, which include academic tours and a concert for high school juniors and seniors.
