What's Up On Campus

• HOURLY STAFF MEMBERS RECEIVED AWARDS FOR YEARS OF SERVICE at the annual Christmas luncheon on Dec. 21. Those honored included: Cynthia Lambert, registrar, and Susan Smith, advancement, for 20 years of service; Sandra Davis, Thomas Library, Carol Kneisley, publications, Sharon Shambaugh, honors and math, and Debra Shaffer, admissions, for 15 years; Marilyn Kissell, athletics, and Phyllis Eberts, publications, for 10 years; and Teresa Cantrell, Career Center, Celesta Dunn, provost, Joyce Loeffler, registrar, Cathy McGorry, business, Christa Sodders, psychology and Kathy Voytko, education, for five years of service.

• MORE THAN 20 STAFF MEMBERS ATTENDED AN INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP with Steve Morgan, motivational speaker and consultant from Chase Bank, on Dec. 17. This was Morgan's second workshop with representatives from admission, business, financial aid and the registrar's office. Topics included teamwork, communication and customer relations. Morgan also introduced the group to the "Platinum Rule:" Treat others the way they want to be treated."

• A PRINTMAKING EXHIBIT BY NICOLE HAND, assistant professor of art at Murray State University begins Thursday, Jan. 10 in the Ann Miller Gallery. The exhibit will run through mid-February, according to Kevin Salzman, assistant professor of art and director of the gallery.

• JOHN PAULSEN, DIRECTOR OF PLANT, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT, issued the first call for participants in the third annual Wittenberg Triathlon. The event, scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 27, includes a half-mile pool swim, 20-mile bike ride and a four-mile run. Faculty Forum

• STEVE REYNOLDS, PROFESSOR OF THEATRE AND DANCE AND DEPARTMENT CHAIR, will direct a 10-minute play Jan. 8-12, at the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Region III Festival in Evansville, Ind.


Administrative Notes

• THE SECOND SERIES OF THE NOEL-LEVITZ CUSTOMER SERVICE sessions begins Wednesday, Jan. 16 and concludes Feb. 13. Approximately 40 staff members participated in the fall program and another 40 will participate in the upcoming session. Customer service training will be scheduled regularly so that all staff members will eventually have the opportunity to participate. Club/Organization of the Week

• WITTENBERG'S CHAPTER OF HABITAT FOR HUMANITY recently initiated a two-year campaign to raise $50,000 to fund a house that will be built entirely by Wittenberg students. The organization's annual Valentine's Day cookie sale is currently underway, and the deadline for orders is Friday, Jan. 18. For $8 per dozen or $15 for two dozen, your freshly baked sugar and chocolate-chip cookies will be delivered to your department's office on Monday, Feb. 11. Support the group's efforts and mail your order and check to Habitat for Humanity at the Service Center, Box 3928.


Work This Week


• THE SOCIOLOGY/GEOGRAPHY DEPARTMENT has openings Mon., Wed., Fri., 1-3 p.m., and Tues., Thurs., 9-11 a.m.

• WARDER LITERACY CENTER has two openings for student assistants Mon.-Thurs., 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Fri. 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Students can set their schedules during these hours.


Kudos

• KUDOS TO THE STUDENT EMPLOYEES OF HUMAN RESOURCES for their contributions to the hourly staff Christmas luncheon. They helped assemble the "Christmas Soup" packets and added the scarves to the snowmen table favors. Special thanks to Joanna Inskeep '05 (Frosty), Molly Blair '05 and Jen Lundregan '04 for decorating the tables and passing out door prizes.

• KUDOS TO HUMAN RESOURCES STAFF MEMBERS Teresa Allen, Betsy Schmidt and Cindy Torsell for the special care they took in planning the theme and carrying out the many details that made the hourly staff Christmas luncheon such a success.

• KUDOS TO KRISTEN KRETSCHMAN '94, catering manager of Sodexho Marriott, and her staff for the excellent meal and service provided to the hourly staff at their annual Christmas luncheon.


Odd Ends

• WELCOME BACK TO SECURITY OFFICER RON WILKERSON. Ron returned to work Dec. 24 after two months' convalescence from vascular surgery. He expects to resume his regular duties on the 3 p.m.-to-11 p.m. shift in a couple of weeks.
