• CEDAR BOG nature preserve opens for the season from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, April 2-3. To visit the fen, drive north on route 68 to Cedar Bog Road, or ride the Simon Kenton Bike Trail north to the Cedar Bog staging area. The preserve is managed by the Ohio Historical Society, and an admission fee is required. Visit the Cedar Bog Web site.

• SYMFUNNIES III, "Great Composers, Great Music," will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 3 in Kuss Auditorium, Clark State Performing Arts Center. The Springfield Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Peter Stafford Wilson will present a program of orchestral music written by Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Debussy, Stravinsky and Bernstein. Actors will introduce the classics. Reserve free SymFunnies III tickets. Call 328-3874, or e-mail Springfield Symphony Information. Tickets will he held at the box office, or at "will call."

• FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, the final production in the Springfield Arts Council Traditions Series will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7 in Kuss Auditorium, Clark State PAC. Visit the Springfield Arts Council Web site for ticket information.

• THE SOCHE SPRING CONFERENCE titled "Diversity and Multicultural Competencies in Higher Education" will feature Raechele Pope, Ph.D. from the University of Buffalo. The conference begins at 8:30 a.m. Friday, April 15, at Sinclair Community College.
