• A FACULTY RETIREMENT RECEPTION will be hosted by Provost Ken Bladh beginning at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 29, in the Hobson Atrium and Bayley Auditorium, Barbara Deer Kuss Science Center. J. Ann Cothran, professor of languages, Erhard O. Eimer, professor of psychology, and Nelson E. Sartoris, professor of chemistry, will be honored.

• "A LUTHERAN KNOT: Reflections on the Golden Rule: How Literal is Taking the Role of the ‘Other’?: The Finnish Interpretation" will be presented by Basil Kardaras and Michael Norris, sociology and criminal justice department, Capital University, at 4 p.m. Friday, April 29, 201 Shouvlin Center.

THE SENIOR ART SHOW is on exhibit in Koch Hall through May 13, including the Ann Miller Gallery. The gallery is open from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

• THE SENIOR AND FACULTY DANCE CONCERT will be held at 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, April 29-30, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 1, in Chakeres Memorial Theatre. The concert is the final project for senior dance minors. Read more ...

• WITTFEST, Union Board's annual spring festival, will be held 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, April 30. Read more ...

• THE SIXTH ANNUAL WITTENBERG TRIATHLON will be held Saturday, April 30. Staged from the HPER Center, the event will include a half-mile swim, 20-mile bike ride and a four-mile run. The inaugural Wittenberg Triathlon took place in 2000 with five individuals and three teams; this year's event features 43 participants including 13 faculty members, three staff or administration members, 15 current students, eight alumni and four family members. This makes the greatest number of solo participants and overall number of participants and ties the greatest number of teams..

• THE PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT will join friends and alumni to celebrate the career of Professor Erhard Eimer at a reception at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 105 Shouvlin Center. Eimer will retire this year after 37 years of service to Wittenberg,

• THE WITTENBERG SYMPHONIC BAND "Pops Concert," Jay Koupal, interim director, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 1, Stoughton Lawn. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

• "GET IN TUNE" Wellness Fair, sponsored by Dining Services and the campus Health Center, will be held from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, in the lower level of the Benham-Pence Student Center. Read more ...

• A FAREWELL RECEPTION for graduating and departing international students will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in Ness Family Auditorium, Hollenbeck Hall. The event is hosted by the Office of International Education.

MATERIAL CULTURE: The Journal of the Pioneer America Society for Spring 2005 has been published. Wittenberg faculty and staff who worked on the journal are Artimus Keiffer, editor, Carol Kneisley, technical adviser, Maureen Fry, copy editor, and Marie Avila, technical assistant.

• PETER GILLETTE '05 presented a paper at the Undergraduate Economics Paper Contest at BGSU recently. The title of his paper was "Institutional Change, Rent Theory and the Major League Baseball Market: A Different Pespective."Gillette won a $50 award for his third-place finish in the Microeconomics section of the competition.

• CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CLASS OF 2005. Commencement exercises will be held Saturday, May 14. At 1:30 p.m. the Commencement Walk will begin, and at 2 p.m. the ceremony will begin in Commencement Hollow, weather permitting. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be held in the HPER Center. Tickets will be required for an indoor ceremony, and the doors will open at noon.

• EMPTY BOWLS 2005 earned $5,640 for the Second Harvest Food Bank.

• AN ACADEMIC ADVISING STUDY TEAM has been appointed by Provost Ken Bladh. Members of the team include Bob Davis, associate professor of English; Dave Finster, professor of chemistry and chemical hygiene officer; Stephanie Ford, director of the Career Center; Dawn Henseler White, director of the student center; Robin Inboden, associate professor of English and department chair; Stephanie Little, assistant professor of psychology; Lisa Rhine, assistant provost for academic services; and Fred Tiffany, associate professor of economics and department chair.
