• PEGGY HANNA, academic department assistant in sociology, and Michael McClelland, assistant professor of English, will be signing copies of their novels as part of the Wittenberg Guild's book sale today at the Bayley House. Hanna's work is title "Patriotism, Peace and Vietnam: A Memoir," and she'll be there from 12-2 p.m. today and 1-3 p.m. on Saturday. McClelland will be present from 3:15-5 p.m. on Friday.

• THE MYERS HALL FOUNDERS WALL will be unveiled at 4 p.m. today in the front a hallway just inside the main entrance at the top of the Myers Hall steps.

• THE ANN MILLER GALLERY exhibition of work by ceramic artist Sam Chung will continue through Friday, Nov. 12. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

• NEW STUDENT SHOWCASE, directed by Jean Howat Berry '83, will be presented by the Department of Theatre and Dance at 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Oct. 22-23, Blair Hall Theatre.

• ALUMNA ARTIST JUDITH BURBANK, soprano, will speak about her career at the Alumni Career Workshop in Music at 4 p.m. today in 302 Krieg Hall 302. Assisted by Diane Slagle, Burbank will also perform works by Debussy, Richard Strauss, Nico Dostal, Franz Lehar, and William Bolcom in a recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, also in 302 Krieg Hall.

• THE INTERNATIONAL FILM SERIES will present its second feature Beauty and the Beast, director Jean Cocteau's adaptation of Marie Leprince de Beaumont's fairy tale, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, Bayley Auditorium, Barbara Deer Kuss Science Center. Scot Hinson, associate professor of English, will lead the discussion following the viewing.

• THE REFORMATION AND MARTIN LUTHER will be the focus of two Wittenberg Series events, Oct. 25 and 31. The seventh annual Kenneth H. Sauer Luther Symposium will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, in Bayley Auditorium, Barbara Deer Kuss Science Center, on the Wittenberg University campus. The symposium will include an address, "Lutherans and Jews: Then and Now," by Mark U. Edwards, historian of Christian and Lutheran history. Read More...

• EVAN LIPP, associate vice president for enrollment management, was recently quoted in an article titled "Local Colleges Look to Boost Out-of-State Enrollment," in the Dayton Business Journal. "The world we live and work in is a diverse society," he said. "You try to create an educational environment with students from all backgrounds."

• THE CHORAL EUCHARIST FOR REFORMATION, a Wittenberg Series event, will be held at 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 31, Weaver Chapel. Special music by university music ensembles will begin 7:30 p.m.

• “STYLE ON THE SLOPES,” the Wittenberg Guild's 49th Annual Scholarship Style Show, featuring slopeside and fall and winter fashions, will be held Saturday, Nov. 6. The event starts at 10 a.m. with a social hour and silent basket auction, and at 11:30 a.m. the luncheon and style show will begin in the Benham-Pence Student Center. Call Linda Himes, coordinator for The Wittenberg Fund, at 327-7432 for reservations.

• A FORUM ON Ohio's Proposed Amendment Banning Gay Marriage and Domestic Partner Benefits for State Employees will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26th in Bayley Auditorium. Speaking to this issue will be Greg Quinlan, president of the Pro-Family Network, and Ian James, political director of Ohioans Protecting the Constitution, in addition to campus representation from Lindsay Jacobs from the College Republicans, Julianna Parks from the Gay/Straight Alliance and Don Reed and Nancy McHugh from the Department of Philosophy.

• THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT, in partnership with Springfield City Schools, will host a reception inaugurating its Springfield Early Teacher Uplift Program from 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27 in 105 Shouvlin Center.

• THE WITTENBERG VOLLEYBALL TEAM has ascended to No. 1 in the national poll conducted by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. It is the first time in school history that the Tigers have been No. 1 in volleyball, although the program has been ranked in the poll every week since 2000 and has finished as high as No. 6 in past years.
