
THE SIMON KENTON TRAIL, the bike path from Springfield to Urbana, is the site of a scheduled fund-raiser beginning 8-10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, with registration and biking. A $25 registration fee will be used for trail maintenance by the SK Pathfinders. The fee includes breakfast, lunch and snacks for the 15-60 mile ride. The trail can be accessed by following the Buck Creek Trail from the south edge of campus to Villa Road.
A PUBLIC WORKSHOP to discuss the development of Springfield's New Historic Preservation Plan will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at the Heritage Center, Discovery Hall,
117 S. Fountain Ave.
The meeting is to familiarize consultants through a discussion of the city's preservation successes, challenges and opportunities.
