• MUSIC AT WITTENBERG will present student recitals with Halle McGuire, soprano, Diane Slagle, piano, at 8 p.m. Friday, March 30, and Shanel Sechrist, soprano, Diane Slagle, piano, at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 31, Krieg Hall. An M & M informal recital featuring students and faculty will take place at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, Krieg Hall. The Wittenberg Singers, Carol J. Todd, conductor, assisted by the Wittenberg Handbell Choir, Margaret Dill, interim director, will perform at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 14, Weaver Chapel. The 26th Annual Gabriel Brass Festival, Brass Choir Invitational, Daniel Zehringer, conductor, will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 15, Weaver Chapel.

• A DIVERSITY ART EXHIBITION fundraising event sponsored by the GSA will be held from 9-11 p.m. Friday, March 30, in the CDR, Benham-Pence Student Center. The event is the finale of the 2007 Pride Week festivities directed toward the GSA’s efforts at “Building a More Diverse Campus.”

• THE WITTENBERG CHAMBER SINGERS will present two performances to conclude their 2006-07 school year schedule. The first appearance is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Saturday, March 31, in the Davidson Grand Lobby, Clark State Performing Arts Center. Read more ...

• WEST CAMPUS DRIVE AT NORTH WITTENBERG will be closed from 9:30 a.m.-noon Tuesday, April 3, to allow construction equipment to set up and complete a project in Commencement Hollow. The exits behind Koch Hall and on West Campus Drive at Ward Street will be open for those who parked in the lots behind Recitation Hall and Carnegie Hall prior to the closing.

• CONGRATULATIONS TO 12 SOCIOLOGY SENIORS who will present their senior thesis research at the North Central Sociological Association conference in Chicago. Yusef Abdul-Zahir, Harvey Bower, Cassidy Cantrell, Derek Fugate, Beth Houser, Lindsey Konrad, James Leonard, Katy Nichols, Melissa Niese, Kyle Noble, Jen Pfleiderer and Ashley Sodders will leave campus at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, and return late Friday evening.

• GOOD FRIDAY is April 6. University offices will closed, and classes will not be held in observance of the holiday.

• ONE IN FOUR, the men's program, will be held at 8 a.m., 2, 4 and 7 p.m. Monday, April 9, Ness Family Auditorium. Sponsored by athletics, CBS and the Womyns Center, human resources, Interfraternity Council, RHA, and student development, the program introduces men to how it feels to be sexually assaulted and how to help victims who have been raped. Named for the statistic that one-in-four women will experience sexual assault in their lifetime, those attending will learn the distinction between sexual assault and rape, and examine how stereotypical thinking about women contributes to the likelihood of assaults. All Wittenberg men are welcome to participate in one of the sessions.

THE WESTCOTT HOUSE FOUNDATION will host "Sustainable Landscapes: Past and Present" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, Bayley Auditorium, Barbara Deer Kuss Science Center. The lecture will feature Carol Yetken, a landscape architect from Oak Park, Ill'., who will speak about sustainable landscapes and different approaches to landscaping over time. Yetken teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and was involved in the restoration of the Westcott House. The event is free to students, $10 for members and $15 for non-members.

• WITTENBERG WILL HOST ITS ANNUAL EMPTY BOWLS DINNER FROM 4:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 105 Joseph C. Shouvlin Center for Lifelong Learning. The proceeds will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. Read more ...

TAMING OF THE SHREW by William Shakespeare will be the final mainstage play of the semester. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, April 12-14, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, in Chakeres Memorial Theatre. Tickets will be $4 and will go on sale at the Benham-Pence Student Center Service Center desk on Monday, April 2. Tickets may also be reserved by calling the theatre department at 327-7443. • A PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP PIANO NIGHT with Chris Durrenberger, associate professor of music, will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 12, Krieg Hall. Durrenberger will present an evening of playing and learning for grades 9-12. Admission is free. • HONORS CONVOCATION will be held at at 4 p.m. Friday, April 13, in Weaver Chapel. The convocation, held with faculty in full academic regalia, recognizes high achievement of students and faculty members in academic and co-curricular activities. Convocation class schedule.

• THE FIRST CASUAL CAMPUS CUISINE cooking classes have been scheduled by Sodexho for students, faculty, staff, and their friends and family. Bill Thomas, production staff member, will demonstrate how to make chicken alfredo, as well as a delicious appetizer and dessert. Thomas honed his skills in Chef Jean-Pierre's restaurant in Florida. The format will be similar to that of Emeril Lagasse of Food Network fame. According to Sarah Welch, marketing specialist, many have suggested a vegetarian class for the next demonstration.

• THE NINTH ANNUAL FOOTBALL GOLF OUTING will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at Reid Memorial Golf Course in Springfield. Lunch and registration begin at noon. Read more ...

• MANY IN THE U.S. GULF COAST region benefited from the efforts of nearly 70 pairs of helping hands during spring break trips earlier this month. They continued the clean-up efforts and helped in the re-building process in multiple locations across Mississippi and Louisiana to families still feeling the effects of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
