• DAN FLEISCH, associate professor of physics, will give a free public lecture at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, during the Springfield Museum of Art's Äerospace Design: The Art of Engineering From NASA's Aeronautical Research. Fleisch will also lead free tours of Weaver Observatory beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, as part of the museum's programming.

• THOMAS T. TAYLOR, professor of history, has shared "This Month in History: 1919: on Veterans Day 2006." Read more ... Those World War I veterans were also remembered on a bronze plaque contained in the stone pillar at the entrance to East Campus Drive, a gift of the Class of 1920. In part it reads: “They counted not happiness nor property, nor life itself dear, when the call of humanity came.”
