THE MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE, mandated by Ohio voters, amended the Ohio constitution to increase the state minimum wage each January, based on the CPI at the end of September. An increase of 15 cents, or two percent, raised the rate to $7 per hour effective Jan. 1, 2008. Students will realize the rate increase on the Feb. 15 pay. The Wittenberg administration remains committed to paying students working in special classifications a differential of 50 cents per hour.

THE DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC presents two events on Wednesday, Jan. 30, featuring Mark Heeg '84, piano. At 3 p.m., Heeg will give a piano masterclass, and at 7:30 p.m., he will present an Alumni Recital featuring music by Schubert, Liszt and Granados, as well as short Liszt transcriptions of works by Chopin and Schumann. Both events will be held in Krieg Hall. Heeg is assistant professor of piano at Eastern Mediterranean University in northern Cyprus, and he has performed as a soloist in the United States, Germany, Austria, Ukraine, Egypt and Japan.
UNDER THE WITTENBERG SUN, a Winter Film Series presented by University Counselor Linda Lauffenberger, begins at 12 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 201 Shouvlin Center. Bring lunch. THE NINTH ANNUAL WITTENBERG TRIATHLON is scheduled for Saturday, April 26. The event is open to all Wittenberg community members and immediate family members.
