• THE WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM, competing in the NCAA National Championship Tournament at Illinois Wesleyan, can be watched on video broadcasts via the Web at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16-17. Go here ... Click on “NCAA Tournament” for access to the broadcast. A community viewing begins at 8 p.m. for tonight’s match-up semi-finals against Wisconsin-Whitewater, and Saturday’s championship finals, in Bayley Auditorium.

• THE FIJIS HOST THEIR ANNUAL THANKSGIVING DINNER from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at 20 W. Ferncliff Place. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased during meal times at the Benham-Pence Student Center from any Phi Gamma Delta member or at the door on Monday. All proceeds will be donated to Springfield's Project Woman, and the Fijis hope to raise more than $1,000 dollars during this holiday season. The event is open to the public.

• A COMMUNITY MERCY HEALTH PARTNERS (CMHP) planning forum begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 201 Shouvlin Center. Regional President/CEO of CMHP George Miller along with representatives of the CMHP Board of Directors, medical staff and nursing staff will share a CMHP update, including service consolidation plans for inpatient and outpatient services in Springfield. They will also discuss how one hospital with two campuses in Springfield is paving the way for the new downtown hospital.

• THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY begins for students on Wednesday, Nov. 21, and classes resume Monday, Nov. 26.

• UNIVERSITY OFFICES close for the holiday on Thursday-Friday, Nov. 22-23.

• OPEN ENROLLMENT for flexible spending accounts, health insurance, voluntary supplemental insurance policies and optional supplemental life insurance takes place Monday-Friday, Nov. 26-Dec. 14. Open enrollment packets, which include enrollment information and detailed information on the benefits, will be sent to all eligible faculty and staff members via campus mail next week.

• MAKERS OF VERSE, a global experience in languages presented annually by the language department, begins at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, Ness Family Auditorium. The event includes international poetry reading in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian and Spanish with English text provided.

• PROFESSOR EMERITUS OF GEOGRAPHY E. Leonard Brown returns to campus where he will discuss "Integrative and Participatory Development in Honduras" in a colloquium at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 115 Carnegie.

Schanberger Photographing a Seal Carcass

• THE ART DEPARTMENT welcomes photographer Francis Schanberger at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, Kissell Auditorium, Koch Hall. Schanberger will present a slide lecture, which will be followed by a reception. An exhibition of his work titled "Sibling Rivalries and Other Motivating Factors" is in the Ann Miller Gallery through Friday, Dec. 14. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, except Thursday-Friday, Nov. 22-23.

• MODEL UNITED NATIONS CLUB plans a "Babysitting Afternoon" from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2. The fundraising project includes crafts, story reading, games and holiday activities for the children, grandchildren and friends of faculty, staff, students and community members. Donations accepted. • COLLEGE ACCESS PARTNERSHIP GUARANTEE recently initiated by the Office of Admission aims to ensure that students from underrepresented populations have access to Wittenberg by recognizing the outstanding students affiliated with Ohio College Access Network. Read more ...

• HOLOCAUST SCHOLARS provide insights into the experience of teaching the Holocaust. Read more ...

• BLEED PURPLE, a Delta Tau Delta, left, fundraising event, welcomed approximately 250 to the competition and concert. Fiji Eric Hatori '10 won the endurance competition and is the new owner of a Nintendo Wii. The campaign, including alumni donations, raised $655 to provide support for college students who are living with cancer so they may continue their studies and undergo treatment. The proceeds will be sent to the executive office to be added to funds raised by all other Delt Chapters across the nation and donated to the Bleed Purple Foundation. Combined with the money they raised at Homecoming 2007 to benefit the Lagonda Middle School, Delta Tau Delta has donated more than $1,000 to its philanthropies in two months. Read more ...
