• TAMMY PROCTOR, associate professor of history, is organizing the 3rd annual Reformation Run, which will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, near Weaver Chapel. Print a PDF of the registration form and send it in before Oct. 26. Registration form.

• JOHN PAULSEN, director of plant safety and environment and board president of The Center City Association, has asked for volunteers for the 6th annual Holiday in the City celebration, which will be held from 4-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, in and around the core block of downtown Springfield. The event will include a parade, carriage rides, Santa Land, Christmas Village, children’s crafts, the Grand Illumination of downtown and a fireworks display from the top of City Hall. • TRUDY FABER, professor of music, was featured in articles titled "The Travails of a Transplanted Organist" and "Organist Recalls Playing More Majestic Instruments," which appeared in the Springfield News-Sun, Oct. 1. The articles discussed Faber's recent tour in Germany and her career, which has spanned more than 50 years.

• PAUL PARLATO, dean emeritus of the School of Community Education, has been named the first executive director of Hollandia Botanical Gardens. The organization is dedicated to building a public floral garden on 11 acres spanning Buck Creek and stretching from the intersection of Warder and Water Streets to Sherman Avenue. Read more ...

• ALAN MCEVOY, professor of sociology, gave a talk on digital photography, Oct. 1. McEvoy's exhibit in the Thompson Gallery, titled "Spaces Within Light: Digital Photographs by Alan McEvoy," ends Oct. 5.

• JERRY PANKHURST, professor of sociology, organized an Iftar Celebration with members of two local mosques on Oct. 1. For the second year, Pankhurst offered the Wittenberg community the opportunity to participate in the traditional meal that breaks the fast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Read more ...

• TIM LEWIS, professor of biology, was quoted in two articles in the Springfield News-Sun, Sept. 30. Both articles, "Museum Has Different Take on Natural History" and "Museum Stirs up Debate between Science, Religion," discussed the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Ky.

• JOYCE WENDEL, associate director of music and director of the Wittenberg Chamber Singers, was quoted in an article about the late Associate Professor of Music Tom Kennedy titled "Prof Remembered with Music," which appeared in the Springfield News-Sun, Oct. 1. The article discussed the musical celebration held in memory of Kennedy on Sept. 30.

• JEFF ANKROM, professor of economics, was interviewed for an article titled "Payday Lending Attracting Scrutiny," which appeared in the Springfield News-Sun, Sept. 25. The article discussed
proposed legislation to cap interest rates charged by payday lending stores. Read more ...
