Foreign Travel Policy (through EIIA-Wittenberg's risk management service provider-and insured by AIG Worldsource)

The University’s Foreign Liability program provides overseas assistance coverage for all faculty, staff, students, alumni, volunteers and their dependents.  Dependents include spouses/domestic partners and children between the ages of 6 months and 18 years or up to 23 years if full time student and dependent.  The purpose of the overseas assistance coverage is to provide an immediate resource for contact in the event of any crisis event.

 Key Services include:

The initial loss must occur with the eligible person is participating in an institution sponsored trip overseas – a personal sojourn extension provides up to 14 days of personal travel in conjunction with the institution sponsored trip.  Please contact the Human Resources Department or International Education Department for specific policy information and policy cards.

Assist America Travel Assistance Services (through UNUM – Wittenberg’s long-term disability provider)

The Assist America assistance program provides 24-hours a day, 365 days a year emergency travel assistance for faculty, administrative staff & dependents when traveling 100 miles or more away from campus including personal travel (a spouse on business travel is excluded). This policy applies both to within and outside the United States, however, the Foreign Travel Liability insurance described above should be used first when traveling abroad.  This is a travel assistance policy – it is not insurance.

If you need travel assistance within the U.S. , call 1-800-872-1414 and give the Assist America operator the following reference number:  01-AA-UN-762490.  Information cards are available in the Human Resource Department.

Travel Accident Insurance

Active faculty and staff members traveling while on official Wittenberg University business (excluding vacations and everyday travel to and from work) are provided coverage for accidental death and dismemberment.  Wittenberg pays the full premium for this benefit and enrollment is automatic effective on your beginning date of employment.
