
Statement of Purpose
The HR Advisory Committee is committed to improving the quality of work life and serves as a formal voice for University staff. The statement of purpose is to be carried out in cooperation with the Associate Vice President for Human Resources/Special Assistant to the President, with whom the Committee will work in an advisory capacity.
Responsibilities
The committee's responsibilities include building a sense of community among departmental staff, identifying issues that are of concern to the staff, making recommendations for staff appointments to various committees, and serving as a sounding board for the implementation of policy changes.
Committee members are asked to serve as liaisons with their constituencies to promote communication on issues considered by the HR advisory committee and issues of concern of the constituents. Committee members should be familiar with the Hourly and Administrative Manuals and have a good understanding of University policies. All committee members are asked to honor the issue of confidentiality.
Appointments
The University president makes the appointments to the HR Advisory Committee. Members are appointed to three-year terms and may serve two consecutive terms. The Associate Vice President for Human Resources/Special Assistant to the President will chair the meetings, prepare the agenda, and oversee the activities of the Committee.
