
Wittenberg University seeks a dynamic, service-oriented Reference Librarian for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty position reporting to the Library Director. The successful candidate will provide leadership for, and participate in, the information literacy instruction program; share in the staffing of the reference desk, including evenings and weekends; provide traditional reference assistance, technology support and instruction in the use of the library and its resources to students, staff and faculty; collaborate with classroom faculty in shaping course assignments, designing research instruction and building curriculum-supporting library collections; perform liaison duties with selected academic departments including collection development and information literacy instruction; collaborate in the supervision of student workers who assist with reference department operations; engage in other activities on and off campus as appropriate to Wittenberg faculty and professional status.
Required: ALA accredited Master’s degree and 2-3 years experience as a reference librarian including teaching information literacy skills in an academic library setting; working knowledge of PC, Windows-compatible hardware, software, operating systems and web design; knowledge of information literacy concepts, assessment, trends, standards and pedagogies; effective written/oral communication and teaching skills; demonstrated awareness of current developments and issues in the use of technology to deliver information in an academic library setting; ability to manage multiple projects and work successfully both independently and as a team member with colleagues and staff; demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service and teamwork.
