B. Voluntary Resignation or Retirement
To separate in good standing, administrative staff should give at least one month’s notice prior to the
effective date of resignation and hourly staff should give at least two weeks notice. Staff who retire or
resign voluntarily should submit a written resignation to your immediate supervisor with a copy to the
associate vice president for human resources indicating the reason for separation and the effective date.
Retiring employees are encouraged to contact the Social Security Administration three months before
starting benefits.
