Tutoring

The Math Workshop offers on and off-campus tutoring services.   The on-campus tutoring is free of charge and is available for students Monday through Thursday from 9:00AM-9:00PM, Friday from 9:00AM to 5:00PM and Sunday from 5:00PM-9:00PM.   What "non-math" courses we tutor depends on the expertise of our tutors.  Check this link out to see what we are offering this year.  Tutor Schedules

On-campus Tutoring (Math Workshop only)

  1. Math courses (e.g., Math 112, Math 118, Math120, Math 131, Math201, Math 202.)
  2. Math-related courses (Psyc107, Econ190, Computer Science 121 and 150, Physics 200, Statistics, Accounting 225 and 226, and General Chemistry)

Off-campus Tutoring

The Math Workshop also offers an off-campus tutoring service for mathematics to the Springfield community.  In addition to tutoring high school math, we can provide tutoring for other subjects such as chemistry and physics.  Tutors are available for any grade, K through 12, and providing tutoring service for elementary students is frequently requested.

Wittenberg students serve as tutors in this capacity and are matched with potential tutees based on their major and concentration.  The tutors are compensated by the parents requesting the tutoring at a nominal fee.  Please contact Kathy Johnson at 327-7041 if you need assistance.

PPC and ALEKS

Formerly called the PPC (Pre-pre-calculus) program, ALEKS  is offered for Wittenberg students and is required for students who need to increase their placement level.   Any questions regarding this program should be addressed to Kathy Johnson at 327-7041.   It is better, however, to come and talk to her personally.

Basic Skills Test

The Basic Skills Test is required for students who placed less than level 20 on the Math Placement Exam. Come to the Math Workshop and practice and get permission before taking the real one.   Please contact the Math Workshop if you have any questions.

Advising

If a student is unsure of what he or she needs to do next to get ready for a math or math-related course, please come and talk to Kathy.   She will advise you about your math requirements, and help you devise a plan to meet them.
