Welcome to the Office of the President

The 13th president of Wittenberg University, Dr. Mark H. Erickson believes firmly in the power of the liberal arts and sciences, and the role Wittenberg University must play in preparing students to be global leaders. Since joining the Wittenberg community on July 1, 2005, Erickson has regularly challenged students to think beyond the campus' borders, encouraging them to take numerous language courses and learn about different world religions, economic systems and cultures. A strong advocate for international engagement, Erickson insists that the Wittenberg community must continue to bring the world to Wittenberg and Wittenberg to the world.
At the same time, Erickson has worked diligently to renew campus facilities, promote Wittenberg on the national stage, and to showcase Wittenberg's long-standing commitment to community service, recognizing that Wittenberg's education of the whole person pushes students to be not just the finest student scholars, but the finest human beings they can be.
Locally, Erickson has spearheaded efforts for Wittenberg to become a fully engaged partner with its hometown of Springfield. Wittenberg's location in an urban setting, Erickson notes, offers unprecedented opportunities for hands-on internships and real-world experiences that round out students' liberal arts education and equally benefit the community.
Erickson's commitment to student success and faculty excellence, however, remains at the core of his vision for Wittenberg. His mantra is and will continue to be, "Nothing but the best is good enough for Wittenberg."
