Computer Science
Computer science is much more than programming its the systematic study of the computer, algorithms and data structures. Our degree combines a solid background in problem-solving with a thorough treatment of one specific programming language, giving you an excellent foundation for future employment. In addition, you'll gain familiarity with many areas of this rapidly changing field, including computer organization, operating systems, databases, simulation and other types of programming languages. Distinctive offerings include artificial intelligence, computer graphics and digital electronics. An outstanding feature of the major is a senior seminar in which you will work within a group to develop and document a major project to be used within the university. If you're interested in computer engineering as a career, a 3-2 program is available in cooperation with several schools, including Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Georgia Tech in Atlanta, and Washington University in St. Louis.
