Academics

ittenberg, as a liberal arts and science institution, requires a broad curriculum for its students. For a student to master the liberal arts and sciences, he or she must become proficient in many different areas. It is through a broad curriculum that students learn to recognize, define and solve problems across many disciplines. A liberal arts education goes beyond training a student technically for a job; it provides students with the skills necessary for a lifelong career.

No later than the spring of their sophomore year, students choose a major, and often a minor, as an area of concentration for his or her studies. Graduation requirements differ between departments, but over their junior and senior years, students work very closely with their department on the requirements of their major. Many departments offer additional learning opportunities, such as off-campus studies and internship programs.

Wittenberg's liberal arts and sciences curriculum provides excellent preparation for professional careers in medicine, law, theology, engineering and accounting, among others. Students have special advisers for these programs.
