Admission / Registration
Degree (matriculant) - Your college transcript (including community or technical college) should include at least 30 semester credits or 45 quarter credits. Although we look for a GPA of 3.0 or higher, we welcome the opportunity to talk to you to determine your readiness for serious learning now. Applicants without this level of college work must provide a high school transcript. We do not require SAT/ACT scores, although these can be useful.
Non-degree (nonmatriculant) - If your goal is short-term – perhaps a course or a certificate – or if you want to try college study before declaring a degree goal, you will hold non-degree status. You can change to degree status upon completing at least 16 credits and fulfilling any conditions set forth by the Dean. All credits earned on non-degree status apply toward the degree program. We usually require just a college transcript, although sometimes a high school transcript is needed.
Teacher Licensure Students - Technically, post-baccalaureate teacher licensure applicants are considered non-degree students. Their admission process, however, is the same as that for degree applicants, including submission of a college transcript with grades and courses that indicate suitability for the teaching profession.
Applying – In order to apply, you must submit the Adult Application for Admission , a $40 admission fee, which is waived for on-line applicants, and official documentation of prior work, such as college transcripts. In all cases, the minimum documentation needed is a diploma or other proof of high school graduation. In cases such as short-term post-baccalaureate study, the Dean may waive this requirement.
Registration
Adult student registration at Wittenberg is simple and quick. Registration for evening and weekend courses takes place in the SCE Office. Students in day programs often consult their major adviser as well as SCE. In most cases, students who do not wish to register in person can do so by phone, fax or e-mail. You will be glad to know that payment is not required at the time of registration.
The most important thing to remember about registration is that it should be completed well in advance of each term. For the Summer and Fall terms, registration begins in March. For the Spring term, it begins in late October. For specific dates, check out the university’s academic calendar.
