Community
Service Rides:
The Motor Pool office provides Wittenberg university students free rides
to their Community Service and Work study locations. Rides are available
Monday through Friday 8am to 6pm.
To set up a ride, you must stop by the office and complete the necessary paperwork. All rides must be set up 48 HOURS in advance NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!
Motor Pool Vehicle Rental:
The Motor Pool department has 12 Passenger vans, mini-vans and cars that can be rented out for use by academic departments and student organizations. The scheduling forms must be completed and signed by the department chair or organization's adviser. The forms must also be accompanied by a complete list of passengers and cell phone numbers for the drivers. Each request must have atleast two cell phone numbers in case of emergency.
All requests must be received by the Motor Pool department 48 HOURS in advance NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Weekend rental paperwork must be received by noon on Thursday.
How to Get Authorized to Drive:
Wittenberg University Faculty, Staff and Students may become authorized to drive a university owned vehicle. The paperwork needed to become authorized can be picked up from our office or found on the links below.
All applicants must complete the authorization form, sign the Policies and Procedures acknowledgement form and submit a copy of their driver's license. Once this paperwork is received by our office, the applicant will receive an email from "Educational and Institutional Insurance". The email will contain a link plus a username and password to access an online test. Once the test is successfully completed our office receives an email, which then confirms the applicant's authorization.
Faculty and staff need to take the test only once, while students are required to take it every academic year.
Please Note: To be eligible to drive a 12 passenger van, drivers MUST be 20 years or older.
Cost
of Vehicle Usage:
Student organizations and grant funded departments will be charged $8 per day per vehicle, plus a mileage cost of 48.5 cents; mileage rate will be updated in January of each year in accordance with IRS mileage reimbursement standard. Academic and administrative department usage will be charged to a general account instead of the department.
Airport
Transportation:
Wittenberg has contracted with Emco Transportation
Services to provide airport transportation to students during break closings.
Transportation is offered to the Dayton and Columbus airports only at predetermined
dates and times.
Shuttles will leave campus at:
8 am, 12 Noon and 4 pm
Shuttles will leave the airports at:
10 am, 2pm, and 6 pm
Any rides outside of these times will be at the cost of the student.
Rides for the breaks can be set up by completing the reservation form found below. The charge for this service is $20 for transportation to the Dayton airport and $25 to the Columbus airport. The money is due at the time of service and can be paid by cash, credit card or check.
Other Transportation Needs:
Although the university does not coordinate transportation needs outside of the specified break periods, students can contact Emco Transportation Service directly at (937)-342-9771 to schedule rides to the airport or any other destination. These arrangements are strictly between the student and Emco and would be at the student's own expense.
