The East Asian Studies Journal is an annual publication of original, undergraduate works released during the spring term of each academic year at Wittenberg University. The purpose of the journal is to encourage and recognize outstanding undergraduate achievement in the area of East Asian Studies while simultaneously promoting an enlightened understanding of the nations of the East.

History Journal

The Wittenberg History Journal aims to showcase the outstanding works of history students (majors and non-majors) in their courses, to enable history students to enjoy the experience of having their works published, to maintain a highly professional style in publishing the journal and to aid the entire campus community in appreciating the discipline of history. The Wittenberg History Journal is published annually during the spring term under the direction of a student editor.

Membership: Those interested in being a staff member should contact the History Department office or the journal’s faculty adviser.

Journal of Political Science

The Wittenberg Journal of Political Science is published annually, usually in the spring. Any paper that deals with political issues is considered for publication whether or not it is written for an actual political science course. Submissions are accepted from both majors and non-majors, and deal with a wide variety of subjects, including American politics, international politics, law, international organizations and comparative issues. The journal serves as an opportunity for Wittenberg students to have their works published and allows the community to see the variety of work done in the field of political science.

Pholeos

Pholeos is a biannual publication of the Wittenberg University Speleological Society (WUSS). This publication is currently distributed to more than 32 countries and approximately 350 national Speleological Society grottoes, as well as museums, libraries, geological surveys, scientists and private subscribers. The journal provides members with the opportunity to submit research papers, cave survey maps, prose, poetry, artwork and photographs, all in the name of caving.

Spectrum

Spectrum is a non-fiction journal published annually by the Writing Center. The goal of the journal is to highlight the diversity and talent of Wittenberg’s academic community by showcasing excellent student writing from a broad range of disciplines. The editorial staff of Spectrum is responsible for the annual publication of the journal, which includes selection of papers, editing and layout.

Material for submission may be derived from any discipline pursued at Wittenberg and may also encompass a wide range of styles, including academic essays, creative nonfiction, argumentative pieces, book of film reviews and senior theses. Students can obtain submission information and pick up a free copy of current or back issues of Spectrum in The Writing Center, 112 Hollenbeck Hall.

Wittenberg Review of Literature and Art

This publication provides a forum for student poetry, short fiction and artwork, and accepts submissions from any discipline.

Activities Include: A student staff critiques submissions and selects works for publication; student editors design the final journal. The journal increases student awareness of trends in literature and art.

Membership: Staff applications and submission deadlines will be announced. Current deadline information and copies of past issues can be obtained by contacting the editors or stopping by the Writing Center, 112 Hollenbeck Hall.
