
Unless a specific University policy provides that an appeal be taken to and decided by a different person or board, the Student Appellate Board shall review and hear appeals from decisions of the Dean of Students.
The Student Appellate Board is comprised of four faculty (the faculty members of the Faculty-Student Senate Conference Committee) and four students appointed by the President of Student Senate and confirmed by Student Senate.
The Student Appellate Board has appellate jurisdiction over the decisions of the Dean of Students. It has no original jurisdiction. Decisions of the Student Appellate Board may be appealed by the complainant or respondent, according to the guidelines for appeal, to the President or the President's designee. If in the opinion of the appeals committee the appeal lacks merit, it has the power to refuse to accept it. If the appeals committee accepts the appeal, it shall review the record of the hearing and shall also meet with the complainant, respondent, the Chief Justice of the Student Senate Hearing Board, and representatives from the Dean of Students' Office.
