Lambda Chi Alpha measures caring, involvement by the ton
Lambda Chi Alpha sponsored a canned food drive to help replenish Second Harvest National Food Bank in preparation for the holiday season. Wittenberg’s chapter joined 220 other chapters in collecting food across North America.
The Wittenberg chapter collected 10,211 pounds of food, which is about 4,000 more than last year, according to Michael Van Voorhis, Lambda Chi Alpha food drive coordinator.
“We’re really happy about it,” said Van Voorhis, adding that it was exhilarating when the fraternity discovered it had raised more than 10,000 pounds.
In addition to the 6,580 pounds in canned food donations, the fraternity also collected about $475 in monetary donations, which the food bank later converted into pounds.
