Marilyn Beattie Bishop, Terre Haute, IN, died June 10, 1999. She taught in
various school systems throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, before retiring
from Warren Elementary School in June 1995. Several times during her career,
she was honored as “Teacher of the Year.” A member of Trinity
Lutheran Church, she is survivied by her husband, Loyal G. Bishop, ’52,
three sons, including Todd W. Bishop, ’82, a daughter and 11 grandchildren.
Robert E. Burk, formerly of Springfield, OH, died June 20, 1999, in Centerville,
OH. In 1991, he retired from SPECO Division of Kelsey Hayes after 24 years
of service. He then served as a systems analyst with Super Foods. A member
of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Charles Borromeo Parish, he is
survived by his wife, two sons, five daughters, including Christine Burk,
’87, 12 grandchildren, a brother, two sisters, and numerous nieces and
nephews.

Iola Black Koch, VanWert, OH, died March 6, 1999. She taught for many years
at The Marsh Foundation School, retiring in 1973. She was a member of First
Baptist Church and several civic and professional organizations. Surviving
are several nieces and nephews, including Karen Koch Black, ’71. Her
husband, Charles R. Koch, ’34, preceded her in death.
Sara “Sally” Roberts Sanders, Hillsboro, OH, died Dec. 29, 1998.
A teacher with the Columbus and Hillsboro Schools for many years, she was
a sales representative with Donald Fender Realty. She also owned and operated
the Colonial Animal Clinc, Sanders Fall Creek Farm and Star Cinemas. An active
member of First United Methodist Church and the community, she is survived
by two sons, two brothers and several nieces and nephews.

John T. Browder, Etowah, NC, died June 28, 1999. He taught with the Lakewood
Local Schools, Hebron, OH, before moving to Strongsville (OH) High School,
where he taught biology, coached golf and basketball, and served as athletics
director. He was inducted into the Ohio High School Golf Coaches Hall of Fame
before retiring in 1988. Surviving are his wife, Beverly Koch Browder, ’58,
a son, a daughter, three grandchildren, his mother and a sister and brother-in-law,
Jerry L., ’59, and Sue Browder Maxson, ’59.

A Southwest Missouri State University professor and head of the consumer
and family studies department, George W. Wise, ’63S, ’65STM, Springfield,
MO, died April 14, 1999. His teaching career spanned more than 30 years at
the Universities of Connecticut, Kentucky, Missouri-Columbia and SMSU. He
held memberships and offices in numerous professional organizations. Survivors
include his wife, Joyce Anderson Wise, ’58, a son, a daughter, his mother,
two brothers and a sister.

Roy K. Jr. and Susan Leibrook Bolenbaugh, ’61, live in Neptune Beach,
FL. Roy, who retired from Revlon in 1998, continues to do human resources
consulting.
Lawrence B. and Bonnie Wornstaff Cummins live in Chattanooga, TN. Larry is
president of Cummins Crane & Equipment, Inc. Bonnie has been recognized
with a Jefferson Award from the American Institute for Public Service. The
award recognizes her service as a volunteer social worker, board member and
past president of the Northside Neighborhood House and for establishing and
serving as board president of the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greater
Chattanooga, Inc.
Nina Griffith Mitchell, Chapel Hill, NC, is a realtor in the Research Triangle
area of North Carolina.
J. William and Helene Ettlinger Pearch, ’61, live in Middletown, OH.
A parish minister for 36 years, Bill most recently served at St. John Lutheran
Church, Franklin Furnace, OH. During their semi-retirement, Bill and Helene
plan to travel around the country in their fifth-wheel trailer and take interim
ministry positions. They also enjoy helping with summer productions at the
Southern Ohio Light Opera, Portsmouth, OH.
Myrna Gale Wyse, a social worker with the Navajo Nation, Shiprock, NM, develops
programs for the prevention of violence. She lives in Cortez, CO.

Patricia A. Holly, '64, married Richard L. Clouse on June 27, 1999 at Grace
Lutheran Church in Springfield. Holly is associate professor and chair of
the Wittenberg health, fitness and sport department.
Gene M. Hodges, ’71STM, lives at South Port Square, a retirement community
in Port Charlotte, FL. A Lutheran minister, he served churches in Ohio and
Florida and as a chaplain at a retirement complex and hospital before his
retirement. This year is the 35th anniversary of his ordination by the Ohio
Synod of the Lutheran Church in America.
Richard L. Rulon, Wilmington, OH, died March 23, 1997. During World War
II, he served with the U.S. Marine Corps. He taught and served as principal
with the Lynchburg Schools, before beginning his service as principal at Greeneview
High School, Jamestown, OH, retiring in 1980. Surviving are his wife, two
sons, a grandson, two sisters and ten nieces and nephews.

Charlotte R. Miller, Glen Mills, PA, retired from her earth science teaching
position with the Ridley School District after 31 years. She also coached
hockey, basketball and lacrosse for 18 of those years.
Hugh M. Rea, Washington Court House, OH, and Marco Island, FL, died June
9, 1999. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy. Before his retirement
in 1974, he served as a principal at Rose Avenue and Belle-Aire Elementary
Schools and as an elementary coordinator with the Washington City Schools.
Following his retirement, he served on the board of trustees at Southern State
Community College and on the Washington City School Board. A 50-year member
of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, he was an active member of his community.
He is survived by his wife, three sons and four grandchildren.
Marlise Harner Vaughan, South Salem, OH, has retired from her position as
a special education teacher with the Miami Trace Local Schools.

in 1990 as principal of Fairborn High School. He served with the U.S. Army
during the Korean War and was an active member of First Baptist Church. Survivors
include his wife, a daughter, a son, three grandchildren, three sisters and
