New Alumni board members relish chance to serve their alma mater

Name: Francisco Sanchez ’86
Hometown: Ann Arbor, Mich.
Job: Legislative Review Coordinator, Ford Motor Company
Education: B.A. in Political Science, M.S. in Public Policy from the University of Michigan, pursuing Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Michigan
As a member of the Alumni Board: “I hope to assist the board in implementing creative and innovative ways to communicate to alumni how fun it is to come and visit campus, get involved with regional clubs, and assist with local recruiting. I would also like to see the board assist alumni in finding and keeping in touch with other alumni. Given my line of work, I also hope to assist in strengthening Wittenberg’s relationship with U.S. and foreign government officials at the state and federal levels.”
Defining Moment at Wittenberg: “I carry with me great memories of my Witt days. My involvement with the basketball team under Coach Larry Hunter influenced my formation not only as an individual but also as a professional. The academic foundation instilled in the political science department prepared me well to tackle graduate school at both the master’s and doctoral levels in two different fields, at two different stages in my life, at top-notch institutions of higher learning in the United States. But by far, the most important defining moment happened precisely on Sept. 23, 1983 at 8 p.m. — my first date with Beth Rini ’87, my wife.”
Name: Martha Michelfelder Scott ’50

As a member of the Alumni Board: “I hope to bring my experience in fund raising to the board and my general knowledge as one of the older members.”
Defining Moment at Wittenberg: “For me, the opportunity to take classes under Dr. John Ostrom [the late professor emeritus of English] particularly his Poe seminar.”
