1. University breaks ground for new Barbara Deer Kuss Science Center Demchak leaves successful alumni programming effort Amy Krosnosky Demchak ’92, director of alumni relations, has announced her departure from her post effective Aug. 1. During her two-and-a-half years of service as director, Demchak spearheaded successful efforts to provide diverse programming both on and off campus to the university’s 23,000 alumni, parents and friends worldwide. In her first year, Demchak strengthened and expanded the university’s regional alumni clubs around the country. Wittenberg now has active alumni clubs in Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Detroit, Indianapolis and Boston, and plans are underway to establish more clubs in New York City, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Southern California. Demchak also worked closely with the university’s Alumni Board and Alumni Association, coordinated Wittenberg’s Homecoming activities, including implementing a new reunion plan, organized Alumni College and the Alumni Luncheon Series, and directed the university’s annual Alumni Weekend. Six hundred alumni returned to campus to enjoy Alumni Weekend this year, up 300 from last year. In addition, Demchak arranged a variety of events for alumni, including holiday parties, the annual Wittenberg Day at the Columbus Zoo and a host of sporting events. “Amy brought high energy and contagious enthusiasm to her role as alumni director and moved the program significantly,” said Charles Dominick, vice president for university advancement. “We regret that her tenure is so short, but she certainly served her alma mater with distinction.” Prior to her position as director of alumni relations, Demchak served as the director of The Wittenberg Fund during the 1998-99 fiscal year, which raised $1.89 million and increased the alumni participation to 27 percent. Demchak and her husband, Tim, will be moving to Terre Haute, Ind., where Tim has accepted a teaching position at Indiana State University. The couple also has a threemonth- old daughter named Mae.
