’71 Jean A. LeLoup, associate professor of Spanish and coordinator of secondary education in the international communications and culture department at the State University of New York College at Cortland, received the Chancellor’s Award of Excellence. Charles T. Saunders Jr., a project manager with the American Electric Power Co., Columbus, OH, has completed his term as president of the Central Ohio Chapter, Institute of Internal Auditors. During his tenure, the chapter received the Institute’s Gold Achievement Award. ’72 ’73 Diana Aikens Tolbert is the lead teacher at the Central Methodist Child Center, Mt. Airy, NC. ’74 Yeura R. Venters, Columbus, OH, has been named director of the Franklin County Public Defender Office. He also serves on the advisory board of the Central Region Juvenile Law Center. ’76 Doug W. and Joan Holder McConnell ’78 are members of the faculty at Heidelberg College, Tiffin, OH. Doug, professor and chair of the department of music, teaches music theory/ composition. Joan teaches organ and piano and serves as staff accompanist. She is also the organist at Grace Lutheran Church, Fremont, OH. Gail Christensen Palminteri, Franklin Lakes, NJ, is a retired bond trader. She is raising pygmy goats and rehabilitating injured mute swans. Sally J. Schatz is director of business development with executive education at the Kenan- Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. ’77 Virginia L. Macali has been awarded certification as a professional effectiveness coach through New Ventures West. A personal and professional coach, she is founder of High Point Transitions, Columbus, OH. ’78 Jo Myers Thompson, a primatologist and world expert on the bonobo ape, is director of the Lukuru Wildlife Research Project. She recently organized a Congolese delegation to address the United Nations in response to the current environmental crisis within the Democratic Republic of Congo. Jo lives in Snowmass Village, CO. ’79 ’80 ’81 Philip G. Cordell, a lecturer and piano instructor at Capital University, Columbus, OH, is a pianist/organist at the Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church. Laura A. Shaw, Stamford, CT, is manager of audio production with News America Marketing, Norwalk, CT. ’82 Janis Rhea Worley, president of Worleybird Productions Inc.,Hudson, OH, is the recipient of the American Women in Radio& Television’s Gracie Allen Award for her work producing Heart of a Nation: America’s First Ladies, which aired on PBS. She was also nominated for local Emmys for editing and best documentary for Act of Duty, real-life stories of the veterans from WWII, Korea and Vietnam to air this fall. ’83 ’84 Curtis A. DePuy has been promoted to technical expert with the Portsmouth (OH) Social Security Office. Charles C. King, Lawrenceville, NJ, is a senior vice president with Zurich Scudder Investments, New York, NY. Daniel J. McNichol Jr. is the author of The Big Dig: The Largest Urban Construction Project in the History of the Modern World, a book chronicling the historic highway project in Boston, MA. Dan was the former deputy director of public affairs for the project. Kevin R. Risner is an information analyst at LexisNexis, Miamisburg, OH. Joseph E. and Susan Horvarth Segeleon ’87, Sioux Falls, SD, announce the birth of Charles, Dec. 20, 2000. Joseph has been named medical director of telemedicine services at the Sioux Valley Hospital/University of South Dakota Medical Center where he also serves as an assistant professor of pediatric critical care medicine. ’85 ’86 Andrew J. Irick, vice president of Security National Bank, Springfield, OH, received the Community Leadership Association Member of the Year award. Douglas J. Maragas, Canton, OH, is an assistant prosecutor in Stark County, OH. Craig Q. and Helen Hambrick Tuttle ’88 have moved to Plain City, OH. Craig has received a merit award from the Ohio Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects for his design, Jewish Cemeteries Memorial Park. ’87 Glenn A. Huetter II, Pittsburgh, PA, and his wife, Diane, announce the births of Marcus A., Nov. 5, 1999 and Xavier J., April 6, 2001. Glenn is a partner in the law firm, Willman & Arnold, practicing in the areas of toxic torts and insurance defense. Daren P. and Virginia “Ginger” Kopp Maloney ’89 live in Worthington, OH. Bank One, Columbus, OH, has named Daren as an area manager for seven banking centers. Robert J. Yoblinski, Boone, NC, and his wife, Mary Dee, announce the birth of Rebecca, Oct. 6, 2000. B.J. is a professor of chemistry at Appalachian State University. ’88 Thomas J. Fischer, Hudson, OH, and his wife, Kristy, announce the birth of Andrew Vermeire, Aug. 8, 2000. Tom, an attorney, owns Silver Oak Title Agency. Adam J. Marcia, Willoughby, OH, and his wife, Nicole, announce the birth of Adam Joseph Jr., July 21, 2000. Gansle, Rocky Point, NY, and her husband, David Stickler, announce the birth of William Karl, Sept. 23, 1999. Kathleen teaches inclusion classes on Long Island. Charles L. He was named 2001 girls’ swimming Coach of the Year for 5A Schools by the Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association for leading his team to its second consecutive Texas State Championship and posting an undefeated season.
