1. Alumna calls for coverage of John Thomas Williams Gay support stirs debate I just received my Wittenberg Magazine and want to thank you for the interesting content and notes about what various alumni are currently up to. However, I was distressed to read William Demarest’s letter titled “Story on campus support of gays and lesbians requested,” and hope its publication does not signal an intent to include such an article in an upcoming issue. Wittenberg’s roots are in the Lutheran church, and even included a seminary on campus. The Bible is very clear that homosexuality is sinful, and while we must love the sinner, we cannot condone the sin. With over 50 percent of the population considering itself evangelical Christian, and less than 3 percent considering it- self homosexual, I’m certain that an article in your magazine on campus support of gays and lesbians would upset far more alumni than the few it would please.
