Editor’s Note: George Hudson,
professor of political science, received
the following letter from
a Russian colleague a few days
after the Sept. 11 attack.
To all my dearest friends:
I wish to express my most
personal regrets concerning
the horrifying events which
have taken place in the United
States.
Hopefully no one has
lost friends or loved ones in
this barbaric act. Many times we are
pressed to face dreadful occurrences
in our lives. Nevertheless
with faith, hope and
strength we will manage to
survive.
The world, as we know it,
has become smaller and intensively
interconnected.
When
such terrible tragedies transpire,we all are united together
to face the realities of a sometimes
hostile world.
Thus at this time let us
say our prayers and look to a
future of peace between all
mankind.
I am looking forward to
working with you toward preventing
such future atrocities
through appropriate education
and moral responsibility.
Respectfully,
Boris Bim-Bad
