Ohio Governor taps alumna and board member as a running mate

Ohio Gov. Bob Taft has named Jennette Bradley ’74 as his running mate for his re-election bid this year. A member of the Wittenberg Board of Directors, Bradley is vice president and senior public finance director for Huntington National Bank in Columbus. She also serves on the Columbus City Council, a position she has been elected to three times since 1991.

“Jennette Bradley has a unique background to serve as Lt. Governor,” Taft said.“She brings to the ticket significant administrative and legislative experience, and a distinguished career in the private sector.” The Columbus Dispatch has described Bradley as “a strong, serious and independent voice” on city council.

“I’m honored and proud to run with Governor Taft,” Bradley said. “Throughout my professional career, I’ve worked hard to represent the interests of everyday Ohioans. As Lt. Governor, I’ll be able to expand my focus to a statewide level.” A psychology major at Wittenberg , Bradley was active on campus, serving as as a peer counselor working with freshmen students, a tutor in Upward Bound, a resident hall adviser, a member of Concerned Black Students, Union Board and a half-time entertainment group called the Syncopates.

Bradley was chosen as one of the Columbus Jaycees’ 10 Outstanding Young Citizens and named the Young Career Woman of Ohio by the Business and Professional Women’s Clubs of Ohio. Bradley and her husband, Michael C. Taylor, reside in Columbus. headline
