Wittenberg welcomes Class of 2006 at annual New Student Days
Amid the crates, clothes, computers and containers, 667 first-year students managed to settle into their new home during New Student Days, Aug. 21-25.
Fifty-two percent of this year’s incoming class are women, 11 percent are non-white, and 3 percent are international students. In addition, nearly 30 percent ranked in the top 10 percent of their high school class, and 21 are valedictorians.
The top five states represented are Ohio (460), Indiana (31), Michigan (27), New York (13) and Illinois (12). Among the countries represented are India, China, Belgium, England and Russia. Seventeen percent are from the Miami Valley.
During New Student Days, the Class of 2006 participated in the university’s annual Playfair, where they socialized and played a number of games designed to break the ice.
The students also had the opportunity to travel in and around Springfield, including a stop at the popular Young’s Dairy, to acquaint themselves with their new community.
