Scholarship created to assist Michigan students

In an effort to offer a Wittenberg education to residents of Michigan’s remote Upper Peninsula region and in their home county, William C. Martin ’62, a member of the Wittenberg board of directors, and his wife, Sally A. Martin, have established an endowed scholarship in their name at Wittenberg.

The scholarship will initially provide financial assistance to two Wittenberg students with demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to one student from Keweenaw or Houghton counties in the Upper Peninsula and to one student from Washtenaw County, home of the University of Michigan where William Martin currently serves as director of athletics. As funding increases, the Martins hope that more Michigan students can benefit from the unique educational experience Wittenberg affords.

“ We’re very grateful to Bill and Sally for their generosity to Wittenberg and their strong commitment to helping us attract talented students from the state of Michigan,” said Charles A. Dominick, vice president for advancement.

Residents of Ann Arbor and avid sailors, the Martins have regularly been honored for their civic and philanthropic efforts throughout Michigan and in their community.
