Management residency program excites students
Larry Emond, chief marketing officer for the Gallup Organization, visited
campus for two days in October, thanks to the Executive-in-Residence
program funded as part of an Ameritech-endowed program and managed through
Wittenberg’s Center for Applied Management (WittCAM).
“
He really started a fire under some of my students and got them excited,” said
Pamela Schindler, professor of management and director of WittCAM.
During his time on campus, Emond discussed how his liberal arts background
greatly assisted him in his career path. He also shared Gallup’s
patented Q12 survey, which has already been used in 300,000 job interviews
by employers. The survey has revolutionized hiring practices by helping
employers better identify those individuals who best fit a particular
position. In addition, Emond spent a generous amount of time with the
students, including having breakfast, lunch and dinner at local establishments
with the students.
“
The opportunity to talk with someone of his caliber was wonderful,” said
Colleen Ryan ’03.
“
We could interact and relate with him, and he encouraged everyone to
apply for jobs at Gallup. It was an enlightening experience. Everyone
was buzzing about how great he was.”
