Helen Ulmer Eckstein, Bozeman, MT, died Oct. 24, 2001. A member of Chi
Omega sorority and Garfield Memorial United Methodist Church, she taught
English at Sulpher Springs (OH) High School for 10 years. Surviving
are two sons, a daughter, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Margaret DeWitt Jones, Springfield, OH, died Aug. 11, 2002. She taught
school in South Charleston and at Green Special School before retiring
as head teller for the Springfield Bank. She was an active member of
Central United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors
include a daughter, two sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
C. Lucille Schaefer, Springfield, OH, died Aug. 29, 2002. A member of
Kappa Delta sorority and St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church,
she retired in 1974 from the Clark County Auditors office after 44 years
of service. She also had taught college level calculus in St. Paul, MN.
Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

William B. Archibald, Venice, FL, died Aug. 19, 1999. Prior to his retirement
in 1972, he was a school administrator in Massillon, OH. An active
member of his community and the Methodist Church, he leaves a daughter,
a son and two grandchildren.
Ralph W. Friend, Rosewood, OH, died Aug. 18, 2002. A member of the Dorm
League, he was a superintendent, teacher and baseball/basketball coach
with the Quincy and Rosewood schools. For a number of years, he owned
and operated the Rosewood Grocery and in 1976, retired as postmaster
of the Rosewood Post Office. An active member of his community, he is
survived by a sister and several nieces and nephews. His wife, Beulah
Birkhold Friend ’31, preceded him in death.

Mary E. Daugherty, South Solon, OH, died Aug. 29, 2002. She retired after
teaching in the South Charleston School System for 47 years. A lifetime
member of St. Charles Borromeo, she was active in community and professional
organizations. Two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews survive.
Mary Ginn Simmons, Piqua, OH, died June 26, 2002. She retired from teaching
in 1975 after 30 years. A member of St. Paul’s United Church of
Christ and several civic organizations, she is survived by two sons,
two daughters, 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Sara Derrickson Parker, Springfield, OH, died Sept. 21, 2002. A member
of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and Covenant Presbyterian Church, she was
a teacher in the Springfield City Schools. She was an active member
of her community. Survivors include a daughter, a son, four grandchildren,
eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding
her in death were her husband, Richard W. Parker ’31, and a brother,
Robert K. Derrickson ’28.
Stanley A. Plummer, Dunedin, FL, and Newland, NC, died Oct. 17, 2001.
A member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian
Church, he served as a field director with the Red Cross during World
War II. He taught social science, history and biology and coached at
various schools in Michigan and Ohio before retiring as district supervisor
with Sun Life Assurance Co. His wife, a daughter, Rebecca Plummer Abbott ’61,
three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren survive.

Hildegard Hilt Izenour, Branford, CT, died July 20, 2002. A member of
Alpha Delta Pi sorority, she is survived by her husband, George C.
Izenour ’34, and a daughter-in-law.
Richard D. Mayer, Loudonville, OH, died June 15, 2002. A member of Phi
Mu Delta fraternity and United Methodist Church, he retired as secretary-treasurer
of the Flxible Co. in 1975. In 1987, he was selected by the Loudonville-Greater
Mohican Area Chamber of Commerce as the winner of the Community Service
Award for his work with the Young Foundation. Survivors include a son,
a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Mayer ’62 and Adolph A. Pezoldt ’62,
six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His wife, Jane Ulmschneider
Mayer ’35, preceded him in death.

Harold R. Albert, ’38S, ’53H, Kissimmee, FL, died Oct. 7,
2002. He was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He held pastorates
in Springfield, Lorain and Columbus, OH, prior to beginning his career
in 1965 as St. John professor of practical theology at the Lutheran Theological
Seminary, Philadelphia, PA, retiring in 1981. Surviving are a son, Douglas
T. Albert ’68, two daughters, including Janet Albert Waltonen ’65,
a son-in-law, Timothy F. Waltonen ’65, and nieces, Carol L. Smith ’65,
and Kathryn Smith May ’67. Preceding him in death were his father,
Raymond A. Albert ’03, two sisters, Miriam Albert Bond ’47
and Virginia Albert Smith ‘42, a brother-in-law, Richard L. Smith ’37,
a brother, Richard W. Albert ’33, and a sister-in-law, Marjorie
Thompson Powell ’40.

Bernice Blanchard Harwick, Columbus, OH, died April 24, 2002. A homemaker,
she was an active member of Holy Name Church. Surviving are three sons,
four daughters, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson
and two sisters-in-law.
Charlotte Weber Kernan, Alexandria, KY, died June 3, 2002. A member
of Alpha Xi Delta sorority, she taught science at Newport High School
for 25 years and in 1957 became principal at Bellevue Center Street Elementary
School, from which she retired in 1976. She was a lifetime member of
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. A niece and nephew survive.
Roger D. McKinley, formerly of Indianapolis, IN, died Aug. 23, 2002
in Terre Haute, IN. A member of Bono United Methodist Church, he retired
in 1979 as director of operations with the aviation program at Purdue
University. He had earlier served as a teacher and principal with the
Springfield (OH) Public Schools. Surviving are his wife, three grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.

Kathryn M. Paden, Springfield, OH, died Sept. 6, 2002. An active member
of Lagonda United Methodist Church, she retired after 38 years with
the Springfield School System. She leaves numerous nieces and nephews.
Her sister, Bessie L. Paden ’35, predeceased her.

Fred E. Theller, Tiffin, OH, died July 1, 2002. A member of Dorm League,
St. John’s United Church of Christ and several fraternal organizations,
he retired from Basic Refactories after 40 years of service. During
World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife,
two sons, a daughter, a step-son, four step-daughters and 10 grandchildren.

Clifford S. Heskett, Springfield, OH, died Aug. 6, 2002. A member of Lambda
Chi Alpha fraternity, he served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He taught in the Clark County and Springfield City School systems. An avid
golfer, he was inducted into the Wittenberg Athletic Hall of Honor. In
his later years, he founded the Thomas Jefferson Institute. Survivors include
a brother, Earl M. Heskett ’67, two sisters-in-law, including Mary
Duckwall Heskett ’59, and several nieces and nephews, including Jon
D. Heskett ’75.

Helen Telzrow Reehorst, Olmsted Falls, OH, died Aug. 29, 2001. A homemaker,
she is survived by her husband, three daughters, two sons, seven grandchildren,
a great-grandchild and a niece, Victoria A. Horning ’98.
Phyllis Spencer Williams, Springfield, OH, died Aug. 5, 2002. A member
of Alpha Xi Delta sorority, she is survived by two daughters, a son,
two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death
were her father, Malcolm E. Spencer ’14, and a brother and sister-in-law,
G. Eldon ’41 and Myra Click Spencer ’41.

John W. Bisch, Plano, TX, died Jan. 21, 2002. A member of Alpha Tau Omega
fraternity, he served with the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army Air Corps during
World War II. He retired from his position as president/owner of an
agency affiliated with Equitable Financial Services in Troy, MI. His
wife, two sons, a daughter, four grandchildren and a great-grandchild
survive.

Vivian Roberts Christol, formerly of Springfield, OH, died Sept. 15,
2002 in Cincinnati, OH. A member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, she was
an active member of Northminster and Covenant Presbyterian Churches.
She taught with the Springfield (OH) Public Schools and Ridgewood Elementary
School until she was 75 years old. A co-host of radio station WIZE’s “Breakfast
with the Christols,” she was awarded a lifetime achievement award
from The Springfield Civic Theater. Survivors include two daughters,
a son, two grandchildren and a sister.
Carol Trenary Miller, Fort Wayne, IN, died Aug. 25, 2002. A member of
Kappa Delta sorority and Trinity English Lutheran Church, she was past
president of PEO Sisterhood and past treasurer of the Fort Wayne Artist
Guild. Surviving are her husband, Harlan J. Miller Jr. ’43, four
sons, including David H. Miller ’69, a daughter, 15 grandchildren,
a brother and a cousin, Nancy Hilsmier Sandifer ’62. Her father-in-law,
Harlan J. Miller Sr. ’12, preceded her in death.

Robert G. Fedak, Springfield, OH, died Sept. 7, 2002. A retired business
teacher from the Clark County Joint Vocational School, he was a member
of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church
and fraternal organizations. During World War II, he served in the
Philippines. Two sisters-in-law, including Wilma Smallwood Garlough ’37
and several nieces and nephews survive.
Alexander S. Traicoff, Huron, OH, died June 17, 2002. A member of Phi
Kappa Psi fraternity, he served with the U.S. Air Force as a tailgunner
flying 30 missions over Germany during World War II. He was a sales representative
with Spitzer, Elyria, OH, LaRiche, Cleveland, OH, and Liberty, Vermilion,
OH. Survivors include two brothers, Boris S. Traicoff ’48, and
Steve Traicoff Jr. ’56, and several nieces and nephews.
