Suresh Ebenezer '96
Formulates Fragrances
From Guatemala and Mexico to Canada, Hong Kong and mainland China, Suresh Ebenezer has traveled extensively for Bath & Body Works, one of the largest personal care and home fragrance companies with more than 1,600 stores located throughout the United States.
A technical services engineer with the company, which is owned by Columbus, Ohio-based Limited Brands, Ebenezer relishes the
opportunity to experience new cultures and explore exotic cities as he works with colleagues to take Bath & Body Works formulations from the lab stage to the production stage.
“I work with great people who make my job enjoyable,” Ebenezer said. “I also get to work for a premier company in the retail industry that has the resources to develop cutting-edge products.”
At least once a week, Ebenezer travels to contract manufacturers throughout the world to ensure that they follow set manufacturing procedures. He also helps the manufacturers produce the company’s diverse line of products more efficiently without sacrificing quality.
Looking back at his time at Wittenberg, Ebenezer is convinced that the friendly environment, which allowed for both intellectual and spiritual development, opened doors to this unique chemistry career.
As a student, Ebenezer discovered a chemistry faculty willing to encourage and inspire, and he took advantage of the faculty
members’ knowledge and expertise at every turn.
“Chemistry was one of my favorite subjects in high school, and it was the reason I wanted to be a chemistry major at Wittenberg,” he said. “Drs. Sartoris, Finster, Kline and Anderson were all influential in my chemistry experiences, and the department also did a wonderful job of communicating the variety of opportunities available to people with chemistry backgrounds.”
Proud of his Wittenberg degree, Ebenezer still keeps in touch with the department as well as fellow alumni. “I made lifelong friends at Wittenberg, and my experience there has allowed me to become what I believe is a well rounded individual.” — Karen Gerboth ’93
