Wittenberg recognized the achievements of students and faculty in academic and co-curricular activities during its annual Honors Convocation, April 16, in Weaver Chapel.

Those honored included Carmiele V. Wilkerson, assistant professor of English and director of Africana Studies, who received the Omicron Delta Kappa Award for outstanding teaching by a professor who has been on the faculty five years or less.

In addition, junior Ann Bixel was named Alma Mater, and junior Jordan Copeland was named Alma Lux. Kimberly Knowle '04 earned the Heimtraut Dietrich Award, Sarah Hendrickson '04 received the M. Alice Geiger Award, and Jeff Domingus '04 earned the John F. Mitchell Award.

The Charles J. Ping Award went to Nancy A. Johnston '04, while the Global Awareness Award was presented to seniors Caela B. O'Connell and Kimberly Jackson.

Seniors Shaina M. Berry and Harold “Skip” Ivery received the Martin Luther King Jr. Award, and junior Aaron A. Davis received the Broadwell Chin Award.

The Presidential Scholars were also recognized and included Brittany Stevens, Coral Spicer, Sarah Myers, Kari Wilson, Rebekah Van Drake, Miranda Hoover, Melanie Barr, Rachel Monroe, Emily Guhde, Bonnie Egan and Laura Kinnaman.
