The U.S. Department of Education has awarded Wittenberg a grant totaling $198,820 to support the development of a new alliance for the recruitment and support of teachers from underserved populations in Springfield.
The project aligns Wittenberg with the Springfield City Schools and the Upward Bound Program on campus, and will establish partnerships with Clark State Community College and Central State University.
In addition to sharing resources, the project will allow for the operation of a future teacher program drawing its students from underserved populations, as well as provide academic, social and financial support throughout the educational process.
