Standing Out Football Player Tapped To Attend Leadership Conference
Hanging
out with Mickey, Minnie and the rest of the Walt Disney World gang is enticing,
but a trip to the famed Orlando, Fla., resort proved as much about business
and personal development as anything else for senior football standout Raymar
Hampshire.
Hampshire participated in the seventh annual NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference May 30-June 4 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.“I was very honored to represent Wittenberg at this conference,” Hampshire said.
“I think the skills I gained at the conference will make me a better person, and I hope to convey some of these messages to our student-athletes here at Wittenberg in the coming school year.”
Hampshire is one of 325 NCAA student-athletes from around the country who have been identified as current or future leaders on their campuses and in their communities.
A three-year starter at running back, Hampshire has taken on a leadership role with the football team in each of his three seasons in the Red & White, including during the 2003-04 school year when he served as one of the captains’ assistants.
Mark Trempe ’03, a former all-conference track and field performer, represented Wittenberg at the 2002 conference, and Kyle Dunaway ’04, an all-conference swimmer, represented Wittenberg in 2003.
Last year, Wittenberg Director of Athletics and Recreation Garnett Purnell also made a presentation at the conference.
