Wittenberg’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted its first Kids Day Out/National Student-Athlete Day Celebration, April 18.

About 60 children in kindergarten through fifth grade at Springfield’s Lagonda Elementary School attended the event, which involved games and mentoring opportunities for the 25 participating student-athletes representing all 23 varsity teams.

“It’s just incredible the impact that college students can have on young children,” said Kristen Hillebrand ’04, SAAC president.

“They don’t see the Division I, Division II or Division III thing. They see a college student who is also an athlete, and that person can be a role model for them.”
