Ken Benne '68 Moves to Advancement Following 32-Year Admission Career Whether it was on the road, at sporting events, in high schools across the country, during prospective student weekends or in his day-to-day activities, Benne regularly shared what made Wittenberg special. Now after 32 years in admission, Benne plans to take that enthusiasm on a different road as a major gifts officer in the Office of Advancement. “Ken brings nearly four decades of established relationships with hundreds of alumni, board members, friends and parents, and I have the utmost confidence in him and great appreciation for his passion, positive attitude, energy and strong work ethic,” said Charles Dominick, vice president for advancement. Benne, who began his new duties in September with a focus on upgrading the university’s fitness facilities, came to Wittenberg from West Point, Neb., as a student in 1964. Active on campus, Benne went on to earn his master of divinity degree from Colgate-Rochester Divinity School in 1971 followed by a master’s degree in education from the University of Rochester in 1972. A member of Phi Kappa Psi and a four-year letterwinner on the gridiron at Wittenberg, Benne received the prestigious Class of 1914 award for meritorious service from the Alumni Association in 1991. During his more than three decades in admission, Wittenberg experienced record numbers of applicants. “I believe strongly that Wittenberg is a special place where great individuals — faculty, staff and coaches — make a significant difference in the lives of young people,” Benne said.
