Adamack Named Executive-in-Residence
As vice president of communications for the Seattle Mariners, and a veteran communications officer with major league baseball for 30 years, Randy Adamack ’73 scored a winning finish to the Mariners’ less than stellar baseball season when he joined management students and sports enthusiasts for two days at Wittenberg, Oct. 12-13. Adamack headlined his Tuesday evening keynote “The Sports Industry...Just Another Business?” with a Safeco Field video followed by a discussion regarding the similarities and differences between major league baseball and other businesses. “MLB is like live theatre with a twist; it’s a competition,” Adamack explained to an audience of 135 students, faculty and guests who filled Bayley Auditorium in the Barbara Deer Kuss Science Center. In addition to sharing stories from the frontlines during his address, Adamack also participated in four classroom sessions, shared lunch with a group of students and offered advice during a career chat while on campus.
