The Wittenberg Volleyball team raised the bar in 2004, reaching the NCAA Division III quarterfinals for the second time in school history before to losing to La Verne (Calif.), 3-0, on Nov. 20.
The Tigers won a school-record 35 matches in 2004 and won the NCAC regular season and tournament championships for and eighth straight year. Seniors Sarah Yuskewich, left, Emilie Schmid and Monica McDonald earned All-America honors.
For Yuskewich, it was an unprecedented third time as a first-team All-America after setting national, school and conference records for assists and blocks during her career.
Schmid was a second-team selection, shattering all school and conference dig records. McDonald, the team leader in kills, capped her career with third-team All-America honors.
Head Coach Paco Labrador was also honored as Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year. Labrador has a sparkling two-year record of 63-10. Wittenberg finished the 2004 regular season ranked No.2 in the nation.
