Around Myers Hollow
The Wittenberg Lutheran Identity Study Commission, appointed by the Board of Directors, is undertaking a year-long study of Wittenberg’s relationship with the Lutheran church, including how its identity impacts its mission and how the university carries out that mission. The group would now like to hear from alumni about how Wittenberg demonstrated its commitment to Lutheran higher education, i.e., its comprehensive mission of learning and living in community, during their student days. Commissioners are also interested in how alumni would articulate the future vision of Wittenberg’s relationship with the Lutheran church. In addition, alumni are invited to share their recommendations on how Wittenberg can sustain and strengthen this relationship. Responses to these questions should be submitted to Richard P. Veler, professor emeritus of English and director of the study, at rveler@wittenberg.edu. The Web site on the study will also be updated after Jan. 20 with the commission’s preliminary recommendations and related documents at www.wittenberg.edu.
