Observatory Receives Praise from Telescope Society
Members of the Antique Telescope Society traveled to Wittenberg in October to admire the university’s historic 10-inch Lundin refractor telescope in Weaver Observatory. Daniel Fleisch, associate professor of physics, served as the group’s tour guide.
“A special treat was that the expert who helped us refurbish the telescope in 2002 was among the group,” Fleisch said. “This was the first return visit of Chris Ray since completing the project, and I think we both beamed with pride when ATS members said they were impressed with the condition of the telescope.” ATS members also complimented the public outreach programs Fleisch conducts annually from the observatory for school groups and community organizations.
