Anne Pence Mayer '69, director of advancement resources and stewardship, recently retired from her alma mater following more than a quarter century of service.

In 1980, Mayer established the first full-time advancement research office at Wittenberg. Through the office, Mayer and her staff conducted fundraising research, administered alumni records and produced Class Notes for the Wittenberg Today and Wittenberg Magazine. Mayer also played a key role in the founding and development of the Ohio Chapter of the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (OPRN), and served in several capacities with the organization. In recognition of her dedicated service, the OPRN Board of Directors voted to name its distinguished service award after her.

Mayer is continuing to assist Wittenberg as a volunteer archivist and is currently working on the university's extensive alumni-related collections.

"The alumni collections document the development of Wittenberg's beautiful campus," Mayer said, "but even more importantly, they record the experiences and the memories of the greater Wittenberg community and the close personal ties that characterize the Wittenberg experience."
