Adam Jara ’08 has received a prestigious scholarship from the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation, one of the highest possible honors in undergraduate science education.

The Goldwater Scholarship program was established by the United States Congress to foster and encourage excellence in science and mathematics, as well as encourage students to pursue careers in these f ields. Goldwater Scholars are selected annually on the basis of academic merit from a field of more than 1,100 mathematics, science and engineering students who were nominated by the faculties of colleges and universities nationwide.

The one- and two-year scholarships awarded to the 317 undergraduate recipients for the 2006-07 academic year include reimbursements for tuition, fees, books, and room and board, up to a maximum of $7,500 per year.
